Credit Valley Family Health Team (CVFHT) is an Academic Family Health Team affiliated with Trillium Health Partners and the University of Toronto. It is an engaging inter-professional primary care team dedicated to continuous learning and excellence within primary care with a demonstrated record of accomplishment of impactful quality improvement activities. It is a not for profit organization that receives funding from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and provides primary health care services to over 13,000 patients in Mississauga. The CVFHT also has a mandate to provide French language primary care services to the Francophone community.
The Administrative Assistant for Community Outreach supports the professional staff and learners of the Credit Valley Family Health Team and CVH Family Medicine Teaching Unit in providing exceptional quality care to all community patients and their families.
In this role, the student will work with our IPCT (Inter-Professional Health Team) and HR and Finance Managers to support the implementation and execution of some of CVFHT’s community engagements and programs.
Main Duties:
- Helps to plan and organize community events and educational sessions at our partner HUB locations or through our website portal including project management and event execution
- Supports all Inter-Professional Health Team members with promotion and execution of the event and programs
- Participates in ongoing meetings with our community partners, to gain a better understanding of our work and partnerships
- Participates in ongoing team meetings
- Contributes to all marketing and community engagement activities
- Plans, organizes and helps to restore our website newsletter
- Answers phones in a timely and courteous manner
- Supports IPCT front desk with assigned duties
- Manages interactions proactively and deescalates challenging situations
- Trouble shoots minor IT issues or alerts IT department or consultant as needed
- Supports FHT activities such as notes at meeting, statistical collection
- Participates in continuous quality improvement efforts including projects and tests of change
In the performance of the above duties, is responsible to maintain a smooth, positive working relationship with key contacts and for imparting to the public a favourable impression of the Credit Valley Family Health Team and the Credit Valley Hospital Family Medicine Teaching Unit.

- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to operate as a key contributor in a team-based environment
- Collaborative, team player
- Nice-to-have: Past experience volunteering within the charitable sector
- Skills to have: Asset Management, Charity Events, Charity Work, Communication, Community Outreach, Community Volunteering, Events Execution, Marketing, Philanthropy, Project Management
- Ability to speak and read in French is considered an asset.
Previous Related or Special Experience Necessary:
- Effective communication/interpersonal skills
- Proficient at use of computers and Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
- Experience with use of excel spreadsheets
Work Conditions:
- Operation of desktop computer and peripherals
- Extended periods of sitting and standing
- Interaction with employees, management, and occasionally the public
- Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
